4.5.6 Skin is a French skincare company focusing on creating high performance products for those with melanin-rich skin, based on the functional and physiological differences of phototypes IV, V, and VI. Focusing on hyperpigmentation, dullness, dehydration and sensitivity as it uniquely affects darker skin, their aim is to democratize the foundations of skincare research and development.

In a balancing act between efficacy and gentleness as well as science and lifestyle, melanin skin health equity meets custom formulations in a forward-thinking branding design language that celebrates both 4.5.6 Skin’s melanin science innovations and the agency it gives to people with darker skin. With this rebrand, colorful and elegant imagery highlighting science-backed solutions reminds us that skin research equity is deeply personal and with 4.5.6's skincare quiz —  personalizable.

Handwritten font and scribble elements function as a nod to the individual formulas 4.5.6. provides. Squares and modular elements represent building blocks of our skin health and are used to help break down information. Beautiful, optimistic collages showcase the balance of melanin-rich skin, science, and skincare visuals.

Packaging

Primary packaging incorporates frosted glass for a luxury feel while letting the colors of the products shine through. Mailer utilizes minimal colors and printing to be as sustainable as possible. Mailer includes an introductory card with the personalized skincare routine. Modular design elements are incorporated throughout to keep the design cohesive, organized, and easily digestible. A QR code is incorporated on the back that leads recipients to their account page on the website where they can learn more about their skin id and skincare routine.
